TV video compatibility checker & playback diagnosis
A video that works on a laptop can still fail on a TV. Inspect its actual tracks, choose the playback route, and get a clear investigation plan. Files stay on this device. Explicit compatibility checks cover three Samsung 2026 developer groups; other TVs receive evidence-labelled troubleshooting.

Does a green metadata check guarantee playback?
No. It means only that a checked condition falls within the selected scope. Corrupt frames, DRM, subtitles, app behavior, bitrate peaks and device firmware can still affect playback. Always test a short copy on the real device.
Why does this ask about USB, an app or HDMI?
Those routes can use different players and decoders. With HDMI, the external player usually handles the file. An app can also transcode on a server. A codec table for one route cannot certify the others.
Can I repair a video by changing .mkv to .mp4?
Renaming changes only the filename. Remuxing rebuilds the container while retaining suitable encoded streams; transcoding creates new encoded streams. Neither operation should overwrite your only original.
Which TVs have explicit rules?
This release compares selected H.264/HEVC limits for Samsung 2026 groups 26TV_BASIC1, 26TV_STANDARD1 and 26TV_PREMIUM2 in developer playback. Other models and consumer playback routes receive diagnostic guidance with support marked unverified.
Is the whole film uploaded or played?
No. The local media reader inspects metadata on your device. This tool does not send the selected file to a server, play package code, or automatically convert your movie.
What should I do if a file cannot be read?
Try a known-working file to check the reader, then copy technical fields from a local MediaInfo report into manual mode. An unreadable report does not, by itself, prove that the file is corrupt.
